OLIVIA BRUCE
Olivia Bruce
I have always found that the best way for me to show my personality and my life is through my work. I use a variety of mediums to present who I am as a person. Pulling from my surroundings I use daily inspiration to brainstorm my next working image; which usually includes the use of much color and bold movement. Although I have been able to see the good in my life which usually inspires my artwork, life sometimes forces me to move creatively into much darker images with painful meanings. My source material usually comes from my mood or emotional state within, I do sometimes use my environment such as my family and friends as a source of inspiration.
As part of my exploration in art, I have been experimenting with various mediums such as, chalk and oil pastels, acrylic paints, inks, graphite pencil, lino cut printing, and ceramics. As much as I enjoy working with other mediums I tend to gravitate towards watercolor as my preferred medium. I think of my work as a window into my mind and life process; Continuously building in various skills and new ideas. As well as self directed exploration, I am currently completing a fine arts certificate which is enabling me to further my skills and knowledge as an artist.
